A tree that stands there for 3,000 years

Populus trees are common in Xinjiang and other parts in west China. It grows in desert, and can withstand cold, dry, sand storm and even thrive in saline soil. Its exuberance strength and endurance to harsh environment is remarkable. We describe them as a tree which can grow up to 1,000 years. When they die, they will stand there for another 1,000 years and when they finally fall, they will be there for yet another 1,000 years.

There are populus forest in north west China such as Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, Gansu along the Ancient Silk Road and Inner Mongolia.
