Suhe: The ancient town on the Tea Horse Road

4km from the ancient city of Lijiang is Suhe, an important town on the ancient Tea Horse Road.  It is one of the early settlements for the Naxi people.  Suhe is only around a quarter of Lijiang in terms of total area, but more tranquil and peaceful, and preserves a number of ancient architectures, stone bridges, and ancient murals incorporating styles from the Naxi, Tibetan and the Chinese.    The Museum on the Tea Horse Road housed in a 400 years old mansion, tells the history of this ancient Road and story of Puer tea. Suhe is part of the Old Town of Lijiang, the UNESCO World Heritage site.  Let’s watch a short video of the charming Suhe Village.
